Miami Roll-Off Guide

Do you need a dumpster permit in Miami?

Only if the dumpster sits on the street, sidewalk or other public space. Here is what Miami requires, from the city's own pages.

Permit: Right-of-way obstruction/closure permit (City Code Sec. 54-3)

Issued by: City of Miami Department of Resilience and Public Works, with Police, Off-Street Parking and Risk Management sign-off; issued by City Manager or designee

Fee: Police application $120; RPW application $95 + $50 initial inspection; $325 closure permit fee; ROW usage fee greater of $595 or per-foot-per-day rates ($0.40/LF/day parking lane); storage of materials/construction spoils extra ($0.20/LF/day parking lane); $95 final inspection

Rules: Permit needs approval by Police, Resilience & Public Works, Off-Street Parking (Miami Parking Authority) and Risk Management; indemnity and insurance required; construction staging plan with a signed/sealed Florida PE statement that no onsite alternative exists; storage of construction spoils in the ROW needs separate approval and fee; $250/day fines. Code text does not name dumpsters specifically.
